Christie Receives Teddy Award for Superior Dealer Service from International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA)

Christie has earned the prestigious 2009 International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA) Teddy Award as Manufacturer of the Year. The annual award is voted by dealers in the motion picture industry who are active members of ICTA. It praises Christie for its “progressive principles of product development, providing dealers with services and up-to-date technical and sales information, while supporting the status of its products without qualification.” Christie won from a field of nearly 100 industry manufacturers.

Cinema Exhibitors’ Association Confirm Plans to Establish Digital Funding Group

The Cinema Exhibitors’ Association today confirmed plans to establish a digital funding group to negotiate financial support for small and medium-sized UK cinema operators to convert to digital cinema technology.

The announcement follows an earlier exercise to identify the potential size and nature of such a grouping.

Commenting on the announcement CEA Chief Executive Phil Clapp said: “The ‘expressions of interest’ exercise we have run over the last few months, together with feedback received during the recent programme of digital roadshow events delivered jointly with the UK Film Council, confirm that there is an absolute desire on the part of UK cinema operators to embrace digital technology.

Nationwide rollout of Sony 4K digital cinema projectors with RealD 3D in Germany / FTT and Sony to install 56 systems by the end of 2009

CinemaxX Group is preparing for the future: By the middle of November 2009, Germany’s most well-known multiplex cinema operator will have equipped 56 of its cinema halls with new “CineAlta 4K” digital cinema projectors from Sony and 3D capabilities from RealD. The contractor for this project is Film-Ton-Technik Hannsdieter Rüttgers GmbH (FTT) of Düsseldorf. The company’s installation teams are responsible for managing the project as well as for the professional and timely installation of the projectors.
