CineForm®, Inc. today announced that HD and 2K versions of its CineForm Intermediate™ compression technologies have been selected by Cinemeta, Ltd, for source acquisition, storage, and digital projection for Cinemeta’s 300-theater digital cinema rollout that begins in India in 4Q07.  CineForm is also announcing that it has developed a secure version of its compression technology called CineForm Secure™ based on 128-bit AES security encryption which Cinemeta is using for an additional layer of content protection.

DTS Europe Announces Involvement With 2020 3D Media Consortium

DTS Digital Cinema today announced its participation in the 2020 3D Media Consortium awarded as an EU project under Framework 7.

This project has been formed to address the development of 3D media production, management and distribution. The project will draw on existing work completed by other media projects (e.g. IP-RACINE) as well as developing further know-how and understanding across a spectrum of activities and has Digital Cinema as a primary market application. The project will use semantic web technologies and will run for four years.

Dolby Use Philips Watermark on Digital Cinema

At the IBC2007 Conference in Amsterdam today, Dolby Laboratories unveiled plans to allow users of its technology to incorporate Philips CineFence advanced anti-piracy technology to protect its digital content. The CineFence system protects storing, managing and playback of digital movies and new cinema releases shown via Dolby’s digital cinema solution can now be embedded with Philips CineFence forensic watermark, thus allowing the content to be traced and protected.

Xilinx and Barco announce single-chip JPEG2000 implementation

At the International Broadcasters Convention (IBC), Xilinx, Inc., the world’s leading supplier of programmable solutions, and Barco Silex, the leading center of micro-electronics of Barco, announced the joint development of single chip JPEG2000 encoder and decoder solutions. Based on the successful implementation of Barco Silex JPEG2000 cores on Xilinx® Virtex™-5 FPGAs, the solutions significantly reduce the cost of broadcast and Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI) archiving, post-production, distribution and server systems. The JPEG2000 solutions will be demonstrated at this week’s IBC, Xilinx Stand 10.421 and Barco Silex Stand 10.620, in the RAI Congress Centre, Amsterdam.
